DOORS OPEN AT 6PM for a special CLOSING NIGHT RECEPTION with filmmakers MATTHEW RANKIN and TREVOR ANDERSON. Screening presented in partnership with FAVA.

Directed by: Matthew Rankin | 90 min | Canada | 2019

Toronto, 1899. Aspiring politician Mackenzie King hesitates in love between a heroic soldier he believes himself destined to marry, and a psoriasis-addled spinster. He learns that with unrequited love, it's never over until you've completely humiliated yourself.

Director Matthew Rankin continues in the proudly twisted tradition of fellow Winnipeg-based filmmaking brethren John Paizs and Guy Maddin, with this genre-defying, gonzo technicolor dreamscape. Shot on grainy 16mm film and defying gender roles at every turn, Rankin has infused his film with deliciously wry commentary on the Canadian psyche. This one simply must be ‘seen’ to be believed. Featuring Edmonton’s own Trevor Anderson in a wild supporting role.
